Step 1: ANALYSIS - Establish project scope and learning requirements
This initial stage involves getting to know you and your business.
We work closely with you to clarify the business objectives and
scope of your e-learning project.
We take the trouble to reach a thorough understanding of:
- Your training requirements
- The needs of the learners
- The content being communicated
- The technology available
Then we have the information we need to plan a solution that truly
fits.
Step 2: DESIGN - Create a design and build a prototype
Instructional design converts theory into practice, developing a
structured plan that, among other things, documents:
- How content will be structured and presented
- How interactive elements will work
- The overall look and feel of the training
- How the programme will integrate with existing systems
A prototype based on this design document provides a preview of
the finished programme for client review and feedback.
Step 3: SCRIPTING - Write interactive scripts and review
An interactive script is a document referred to by everyone involved
in the project.
It's a screen-by-screen breakdown of the e-learning programme, that
fleshes out the design framework by showing:
- The interactive approach of each screen
- All text that will appear on-screen
- The audio script that accompanies the text
- Descriptions of planned images, graphics and animations
This working document clarifies communication between clients and
project teams, providing an opportunity for content review and changes
that would be costly if left until later in the production process.
Step 4: PRODUCTION - Create assets and build programme
After the interactive script is approved comes the production of
assets. These are the labour intensive and more costly elements
of the programme. The production process may include:
- Photography or research of stock images
- Programming computer graphics and animations
- Audio recordings
- Video shoots
Once content and assets are completed, the programming 'build'
pulls all of the elements together into an integrated sequence of
computer files that can be stored on or off-line, and which run
together as a seamless e-learning programme.
Step 5: REVIEW - Client review and changes
Review actually occurs throughout the production process, with the
client approving interim versions of modules produced to an agreed
schedule.
You will have the opportunity to review and make changes at any
of these key stages:
- Instructional design
- Prototype module
- Interactive scripting
- First 'alpha' programme build
Step 6: IMPLEMENTATION - Testing the programme and beyond
