PRESS RELEASE

E-learning development company Copia and DIY retailer B&Q claimed a first prize at the annual European Retail Awards 2006 held at the Birmingham NEC Hilton on June 6th.

The award, for "Best use of Technology for Employee Development", was in recognition of the success of their EPoS e-learning solution that was used to train and support over 25,000 B&Q staff during the implementation of a new Electronic Point of Sale system earlier this year.

The e-learning programme – called “Mission EPoSsible” – has transformed the way staff learn to use the tills, providing customer-facing simulations in which they’re asked to carry out a wide variety of transactions in a safe and realistic environment.

The project has reduced training time for new checkout operators from 14 hours to around six representing a saving to B&Q of over a million pounds.
